To my friends & neighbors,

A lot has happened since May of 2009 when Frisco voters elected me as your next City Councilman. I was humbled and honored to win 57% of the vote despite having three opponents. Since that time, I have not stopped fighting for Frisco, nor have I stopped being a watchdog of your taxdollars.

Frisco is now called home by nearly 120,000 residents. This makes us one of the fastest growing cities in America! Many businesses have chosen to open up shop in our great city and many others have chosen Frisco to relocate their operations.

These decisions were not made because of luck or happenstance – they were made because Frisco offers a great quality of life. Low taxes, lots of recreation and entertainment and excellent schools are all a part of the draw.

There are many important capital improvement projects either ongoing or coming up in the not so distant future. Fire Station 7 will directly improve and save lives. Funding for this necessity was approved early in 2011.

423 road improvements are ongoing and will directly improve the quality of life for Frisco residents. Improving 423 is a necessity.

We have bond authorizations for nearly $100 million dollars for roads, police, fire parks, branch library, senior center improvements and a community theater. These are all good things that will help to improve the lives of Frisco residents.

Issues

One project in my view that is not a necessity for our great city is the proposed $70,000,000 arts hall, which will be located in Allen, TX. On March 1, 2011, the Frisco City Council approved sending this item back you, the voters. You will be able to decide if building this project is a priority for the City of Frisco. Frisco’s share will be approximately $41,000,000.

Here are some things for you to consider as you prepare to go to the polls for early voting May 2-10 or on Election Day May 14:

  • We already have a massive debt burden in the city of $378 million dollars. This means that in just general obligation debt, if we don’t sell anymore bonds and we pay the debt back on time, it will cost the citizens of Frisco $378 million dollars. According to our city staff we have approximately 36,000 households, or roughly $10,400 of debt per household. So why would we want to add $41 million to this already alarming debt figure to build a home for the Plano Symphony Orchestra in Allen?

Do you really want to add $41 m to this exorbitant $378 m of debt to fund a performing arts center outside of our city? Please ask yourselves what’s more important: police, fire, roads, a branch library or the funding of an arts center outside of our city?

If you have any questions about anything happening at the City of on Proposition 1, please do not hesitate to contact me at pat@fallonforfrisco.com or on my cell phone at 214.507.4861.

I very much appreciate you taking the time to learn a bit more about myself and about our collective efforts to make Frisco an even better place.

I will continue to fight for Frisco’s quality of life and to ensure that your tax dollars are spent wisely. You honored me by electing me to represent you on the Frisco City Council. And that is not something I take lightly.

My philosophical beacon is guided by the principals of conservatism, ingenuity and fairness. We’ve all chosen to call Frisco home. Let’s work together to make our city not just the jewel of our region or state but of our country!

Thank you!
-Pat
